MCAL - RIM Calculation Discrepancy in cedars-2

During CEI uploads to Staging, we discovered that the RIM calculation is not aligned between the CET Tool output and the Budget Filing output.

It appears CEDARS Staging budget filing module is not taking “BillIncrElec + BillIncrGas” into consideration.  See attached difference between tabs.

The CET Tool is performing this correctly:

calculation = elecben +gasben +waterenergyben +otherben+ BillIncrElec+ BillIncrGas /RIMCost

This ticket is to request that the Staging Budget Filing module is updated to calculate the outputs the same as the CET Tool for RIM.

    We’ve made major updates to the Budget Filing dashboards, including a fix for the RIM value. You can now retest on cedars-3 to confirm that the RIM calculation is working as expected.

      confirming I calculate the same value using my record level data for RIM, SCT, TRC, PAC as what is shown on our CEDARS-3 dashboard.

    We have a fix for the RIM calculation in Cedars-2. Budget Filing CEI results for SW_PLA now align with the CET results. I ran some tests as SDGE in Statewide Budget Filing and the outputs matched CET.

    Could you please run some additional testing to confirm everything is working as expected?

    Also, how urgent is it to have this in production? Ideally, we’d prefer to allow more time for internal review, which would mean deploying tomorrow rather than this evening.

      Thanks for the quick turnaround on this ticket. We have no urgency to have this in production. As long as its working in Staging, we’ll be able to QC our numbers and ensure they match with our internal system numbers.

      I re-upload our SW programs and using the previous test program, SW_PLA can confirm that the RIMRatio on the Staging Budget Filing dashboard now matches the CE output from the CET Tool for RIMRatio. Thanks!

      I’m no longer able to see any Local or SW CE output in the budget filing dashboards of cedars-2.

        @ggreen Thanks for flagging this. The issue with Local and SW CE outputs not appearing in the budget filing dashboards on cedars-2 was due to a materialized view (mat view) refresh problem.

        This can happen when we change or clone environments, since the mat views don’t always auto-update and need to be manually refreshed to sync with the underlying data tables.

        We’ve refreshed the views and the outputs should now be visible again. In the longer term, we’re working on a permanent fix so this doesn’t keep happening whenever cedars-2 is updated or re-cloned.

          Thanks again for addressing this so quickly and providing a refresh of the dashboard contents.

          I can confirm I’m seeing CE output results in both the Local and Statewide dashboards for SDGE uploads.

          I had a closer look with the dashboard results available again.

          I’m still seeing misalignment with the RIM output. See attached, screen captures for production CET Tool output vs staging budget filing dashboard output.

            Looks like the dashboard isn’t reflecting the true CE output. RIM for

            SW_HVAC_Up_Com aligns with CET Tool output if I download the

            cedars-2 - Budget Dashboard Program Table.

    We have identified additional fields used in the CET that need to be added to the budget filing calculations, this should resolve the issue we are seeing.

      Noting the budget filing dashboard total RIM values in the summary tables are adding the sub ratios instead of recalculating the ratio. This should also be fixed.
