Communication about upcoming navigation changes to Data & Reports

User Story

As a CEDARS user, I want to be informed about upcoming changes to the platform's navigation So that I understand where to find existing features and can adapt to the new layout.

Functional Requirements

  1. Draft clear and concise communication materials to inform users about the following updates:

    • The addition of a "Reports" tab in the top navigation and portfolio metrics.

    • The "Data" tab is moving under the "Reports" tab.

    • The "Income Qualified Programs" tab is moving under the "Reports" tab.

  2. Ensure communication includes:

    • Visual representation of the updated navigation.

    • Clear instructions on where users can find the relocated features.

    • The rationale behind the changes.

  3. Distribute communication materials to all users before the "Reports" tab goes live in production.

Non-Functional Requirements

  1. Ensure the communication is accessible to users of varying technical skill levels.

  2. Ensure communication materials are visually consistent with CEDARS branding.

  3. Update any user guides.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Communication is sent to all active users before the feature goes live in production.

  • Communication includes:

    • Clear descriptions of changes.

    • Visual aids demonstrating the new navigation structure.

    • A timeline for when changes will occur.

Deadlines or Scheduling Requirements

  • Communication to be sent out before the "Reports" tab is implemented in production.

  • Schedule:

    • Draft content by [Insert Date].

    • Review and approve content by [Insert Date].

    • Final distribution to users by [Insert Date].


Description of the Work to Be Done

  1. Draft Communication Materials:

    • Write email or banner content that outlines the upcoming changes.

    • Create visual aids (e.g., mockups or screenshots) highlighting the new navigation structure.

  2. Review and Approvals:

    • Collaborate with Motive Power and CPUC to ensure clear and accurate communication.

  3. Distribute Communication:

    • Use an email service to send announcements to users.

    • Publish in-app announcement.

    • Update user guides.


Testing Requirements

  1. Internal Review: Ensure all content is reviewed by Motive Power and CPUC

  2. Content Verification: Review internally in-app communication and user guide updates

STAGE 2:

  1. Move pages but leave old navigation items in place with a notice about the move.

  2. Include a Changelog post about the move.

  3. Updates made to the user guide where it refers to the data tab.

STAGE 3:

Remove notices and old navigation item and pages. Move complete.
