CET Simplification

Goals

  • Eliminate renaming fields within CET calculations

  • Simplify the CET code

  • Improve version control

  • Improve code availability

  • Stop doing the same calculation multiple times

  • Make the code more accessible to users

  • Reduce the time it takes to calculate cost effectiveness

  • Improve our ability to run multiple data inputs at the same time

  • Ensure future code updates can be made efficiently

Requirements

  • Updated code will produce the same outputs as the current CET (v25.1)

  • Updated code will be publicly available in a GitHub repository

  • Ensure that all required inputs are clearly identified

Approach

The CET has four primary scripts that calculate outputs:

  • Savings

  • Costs

  • Cost effectiveness

  • Emissions

We propose to simplify the savings equations (the CalcSavings stored procedure in the current CET) first.

Questions

  • Do we want to continue to group equations like the current CET does, i.e. Savings, Costs, CE, and Emissions?
