CET database: Regenerate SDG&E system data for 2024 avoided costs

Climate zones 6 and 8 were added for SDG&E. The SDG&E system avoided costs now need to be regenerated so that they are run for the data including CZ 6 and 8 data. Regenerating the system values will enable the system climate zone will work correctly.

Regenerating the data didn't change as expected, so we are not proceeding with this work.

    Hi Jenn,

Seeing benefits a little bit higher for measures in system versus climate zones six or eight could make sense for the measures installed based upon the logic to calculate system values.

We had "10 claims" change from System:
    9/10 to CZ6
    1/10 to CZ8.

The measure installed was a "Residential Smart Communicating Thermostat" which will not see significant benefits in CZ6 on the coast to begin with.  The overall delta  amounted to $14 in favor of System.

We expect to see higher benefits for other measures, more specifically those installed in CZ8.  The biggest thing is that the CE output will yield more accurate data with the addition of CZs 6 & 8 for SDGE.

Thanks again for investing the code to calculate system values.  This ticket can be closed.

    Hi Jenn,

Using CZs "6 & 8" should yield higher numbers for ElecBen and TSB.

Right now, the conservative CZ "System" is yielding greater numbers for ElecBen and TSB than when I use CZs 6 & 8.  This doesn't seem right.

We feel CEDARS requires updates to handle the new SDGE CZs for 6 & 8.  We think this may be an update to the E3AvoidedCostElecCO2Seq2024 table in CEDARS, but not certain.

Would it be possible to apply this update so that we may re-test and ensure this item is included in the next CET Update release that is handling the 40 year EULs fix as well.

    Thanks,

    Greg.
